Transfer Fee

Also known as: Resale Fee, Move-In Capital Contribution

A one-time fee charged by the association when a property changes ownership. Transfer fees cover the administrative costs of updating records, providing disclosure documents to the buyer, and processing the ownership change. The amount is typically set in the governing documents or by board resolution. Some states limit the amount that may be charged as a transfer fee.
