Proxy Voting
A method by which a homeowner authorizes another person to vote on their behalf at an association meeting. Proxies must typically be in writing and may be limited or general in scope. Some states restrict or regulate proxy use in HOA elections. Proxies are commonly used to help achieve quorum at member meetings.
State-Specific Notes
California: Proxies cannot be used for board elections under the Davis-Stirling Act; secret ballots are required.
