IDR

Also known as: Internal Dispute Resolution, Meet and Confer

Internal Dispute Resolution is a process required by California Civil Code Section 5900 that allows homeowners and the association to attempt to resolve disputes informally before pursuing formal legal action. Either party may request IDR, and the association must participate if the homeowner requests it. The process typically involves a meeting between the parties to discuss the dispute and attempt to reach a mutually acceptable resolution. IDR is a prerequisite before certain enforcement actions.
